CAREER OVERVIEW

Rodney Hyman, over four decades, has been one of the leading names in asset management. A leading light in three industry bodies, including Chairman of the Machinery and Business Assets Faculty of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Divisional Senior Vice President of The Australian Property Institute. He holds a range of qualifications as a valuer.

Rodney has only recently relinquished his role as a guest lecturer at the University of Western Sydney on the broad and diverse topic of valuations of machinery and equipment. The recognition of his expertise extends from being an Accredited Senior Appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers to Chartered Valuer (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors). Also, Rod was a member of the Australian Valuation Standards Board from 2005 - 2011.

Rod’s career commenced in the then family business of Associated Auctioneers and Valuers in 1970 where he progressed to Managing Director in 1979. Rod struck out with his brother Ian forming a new business in 1984 and built that business into a speciality plant and machinery valuation practice. Rod sold out to Ian in 1999 and commenced RHAS which over time became the largest plant and machinery valuation practice in Australia. In 2014 Rod sold that business to Aon Risk Services Pty Limited, a division of Aon Plc (one of the world’s largest insurance brokers and listed on the New York stock exchange).

Following the sale of RHAS Rod completed his contract with Aon and in 2016 commenced a boutique practice specialising in expert witness reports, complex valuations for tax and accounting and valuations of museums, galleries and libraries.
